- San Jerónimo WWTP
It serves a population equivalent to 350,000 people. The WWTP was built in two phases – the first in 1984 and the second in 1991 – and treats wastewater from the northern part of Seville, Isla de La Cartuja and the towns of La Rinconada, San José de la Rinconada and Alcalá del Río.
It is the second largest WWTP in Seville in terms of flow rate and contaminant load. The El Ronquillo WWTP is a smaller facility under the contract. It serves a population of around 1,200 people, but has the capacity to cover a population equivalent to 2,316 inhabitants.
The contract includes the construction and subsequent operation of the world's largest waste water treatment plant, located in Atotonilco, in the state of Hidalgo.
ACCIONA Agua aims to reduce the plant's carbon dioxide emissions and its electrical energy consumption.
