The plant has a planned production capacity of 20,000 m3 of water per day, to be used as drinking water or for industrial purposes, and includes two stretches of drinking water pipelines and two booster pump stations for desalinated water.
The desalination project is a key part of the South Australian government’s Water Proofing Adelaide Strategy. It provides Adelaide with half of its annual water usage and is powered by sustainable energy sources.
