The objective of the Chuquicamata Underground Mine Project (UCHMP) is to increase exploitation of the largest copper mine in the world until the year 2060.
ACCIONA's project consists of two parallel-air injection tunnels 4,375 m and 4,320 m long respectively, which form part of a group of five ventilation tunnels that will serve the Chuquicamata underground mine.
The tunnels, excavated by drilling and blasting, will have a section 10.74 m wide and 8.00 m high, with slopes of -14.47% and -14.79% respectively. Perpendicular to them, and to the three future injection tunnels, three galleries 7.75 m wide and 5.6 m high will be built, which will connect all of these tunnels.
ACCIONA Infrastructure was lead partner of the Transcity Joint Venture, for the design, construction, operate and 10 year maintenance of the $1.5 billion Legacy Way project, in Brisbane, Queensland.
